Hi, I’m Leanora Eubanks ( Lay-ah-nor-ah).

Hi! I’m Leanora ( Lay-ah-nor-ah).

I’m the founder of LAYA Lifestyles, LLC and offer yoga programs for living and adapting your practice to face challenges on and off the mat.  Yoga has helped me manage the mental and physical symptoms of anxiety, grief and the stress of everyday life.  The breath-work, meditation and movement practices help my family and friends to manage mental and physical health challenges along with maintaining joy, peace and spiritual connection.  I’m grateful to also share yoga with patients at one of the top US mental health hospitals, Sheppard Pratt.  Our time together will be nourishing, supportive, soothing, refreshing and uplifting.   I look forward to the connection.

Lea is the most gentle, most sensitive, and most effective of teachers. I cannot offer enough praise for Lea and for her work. Her classes help students to honor and to pay homage to the origins of Yoga traditions. She helps her students learn by naming EACH position and by teaching every one of us how to grasp and grow in our own.

Dr. Larry Coleman

met Leanora at her 6:30 am class several years ago, and have been following her ever since. In her classes, I feel strong, powerful, loved, and happy!” …I’ve never received such personal attention to my individual injuries before.

Connie & Steph

Leanora teaches with great heart and clarity. Her students (including myself) really appreciate the combination of set poses and improvised movement in her classes. There’s a nice, comfortable, welcoming air to all of it.

Don

I have been taking a weekly Gentle Yoga class with Leanora since at least 2013. I have a bit of osteoarthritis and find that yoga is absolutely critical to my wellbeing and my ability to move and bend without restriction. Leanora is a caring and knowledgeable yoga instructor who offers more than one choice for poses depending on her students’ abilities. She preaches “listen to your body” and is positive and encouraging. Every practice is physically and spiritually nourishing to body and mind.

My Story

I have been teaching adaptable yoga throughout Baltimore since 2008 and specialize in making  yoga practices accessible to a variety of ages, abilities & communities.   City/federal jail detainees, church congregations, schools, yoga studios & hospitals such as Sheppard Pratt, Johns Hopkins, Kennedy Krieger are just some communities I’ve enjoyed sharing the practice with. My current full-time work at The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt hospital focuses on empowering patients  with yoga techniques for managing mood disorders and mental illness.  I’ve taught a variety of classes at  Baltimore Yoga Village: Mixed-Level and Gentle Yoga,  Yoga for Young Adults w/ Autism; along with free yoga classes through the BYFree program, a partnership between Baltimore Yoga Village and the Enoch Pratt Free Library.

I earned my 200hr. therapeutic-style yoga certification through Diane Finlayson’s Yama Therapeutics (Yoga, Ayurveda & Meditative Arts) program.  Currently I am continuing studies with Maria Garre, New Mexico School of Yoga, and will earn my Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist certification in 2021.  Fueled by holistic perspectives, I also have an Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from the Community College of Baltimore County, a B.A. in Urban Studies from Eastern University and ten years of experience in experiential education as an Outward Bound instructor.  I enjoy integrating eastern (Yoga & Ayurveda) and western (Occupational Therapy & Experiential Education) approaches  with emphasis on adapting yoga movement, breathing and meditation techniques to each individual’s mental state and physical ability.
