Hi, I’m Claudia Neuman

I was born in Los Angeles and began teaching in 1982. My formal Yoga training began in 1984 at Yoga Works in Santa Monica with Rod Stryker & Eric Shiffman and many others. Over the years I’ve been blessed with amazing teachers and have had the opportunity to teach all over the world.

At this time, my specialties are all based in the Sri Vidiya tradition of the Himalayan Masters, as I have been steeped in Para Yoga and have reunited with Yogarupa Rod Stryker these last 10 years. My classes are informed by this rich tradition.

You can expect to have focused asana sessions, yin yoga and Yoga Nidra offerings from me! I am currently working towards three certifications in Para Yoga with Yogarupa Rod Stryker in Para Yoga, Para Yoga Nidra and in Meditation. These are almost complete!

Claudia has said “Don’t teach people. Guide them through an experience.” Claudia practices what she preaches. You will walk out of Claudia’s class transformed.

– Daisy Barquist

Claudia teaches her classes from her soul. She can lead an intense Hatha practice or restorative Nidra that leaves you feeling equally nourished. Claudia also infuses philosophy that is always what I need in the moment. Claudia is truly aligned with Grace!

Claudia Neuman teaches from a place of calm and stability. Her classes are physically centering and energetically inspiring. I always leave Claudia’s classes feeling so appreciative that I made room in my busy schedule to be her student.

Ted Rouse

I love Claudia’s classes! The depth of Claudia’s knowledge and experience in yoga asana, yoga Nidra and the sacred texts offers her students the opportunity to dive deeply into yoga. She invites students to awaken and challenge themselves in meaningful ways. I always feel more rooted and flowing after a class with Claudia.

My Story

Since I attended my first yoga class with her mother in 1966, I have sustained dedication to the practice and study of yoga.

As a native of Los Angeles, I trained extensively at Yoga Works in Santa Monica, California. From the time of its original opening in 1987, I was able to study with and assist some of the most respected teachers in the country today: Yogarupa Rod Stryker, Eric Schiffman, Anna Forrest, and the honorable K. Pattabhi Jois, the creator of Ashtanga Yoga, influenced and shaped her teaching

I completed two of the very first ever Yoga Teacher Training Programs offered at Yoga Works with Yogarupa Rod Stryker, Eric Schiffmann, and Patricia Townsend. I honed my teaching skills and moved on to teach nationwide and also overseas. In 1999 I began to study with John Friend, the creator of Anusara Yoga.

In 2004, I was invited to teach in Baltimore, Maryland, where I eventually took residence and continue to teach and practice.

I was certified in Anusara Yoga in 2005 by John Friend. In 2011, the Anusara empire came to an end, and my decades of practice and study led her back to her original teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker.

I have completed all of the level one Para Yoga Master Trainings to date, as well as several of the advanced trainings. My classes today are Para Yoga influenced as I work my way towards Para Yoga certification. I work closely with my mentor Rene Quenell, a senior Para Yoga Master.

I am also one of the directors of both the 200 and the upcoming 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs at Blue Heron Wellness in Silver Spring, MD. My public classes, specialty classes, workshops, and trainings encompass the Sri Vidya tradition of the Himalayan Masters.
