Therapeutic group yoga classes at Baltimore Yoga Village are slower paced classes in which there is less up and down from the floor, more modifications offered, deep breathing emphasized, and individualized attention given to those with a wide variety of chronic pains and illnesses. These group classes tend to draw an older crowd who take yoga very seriously and who want to practice both traditional postures as well as modified posture exercises to improve health. Many people suffering from arthritis choose therapeutic yoga classes in order to keep from overdoing it and to feel comfortable to work at their own pace. Students are encouraged to come in and out of postures as needed and careful attention is given to alignment, so that students find comfort in yoga postures and less pain in daily life.
