“Baltimore Yoga Village is the best yoga studio in town. There is an authenticity that cannot be matched. Filled with more than just yoga classes. There is singing, visiting nationally acclaimed kirtan groups, sound therapy workshops, pre-natal yoga, all different styles of yoga are represented, and a strong community base is formed at this studio.
Anjali the owner is a joy to be around and has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. I love this local studio by my home in two convenient locations. It is a joy to be a part of the community here. Every thing offered is centered around wellness, community, and joy.” – April T.
“Been gong to BYV for years, after trying other places. It is an inviting atmosphere and offers just what I need; they offer a wide spectrum of approaches and teachers. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in yoga.” – Gayle A.
” When you walk into a class here that you have never been to, the teacher introduces herself/himself and asks about your level of experience. I find this comforting that the teachers here are trying to learn about their students and create a class that speaks to each person involved. ” – Kim D.
“Dear Anjali….I have taught workshops in many places but there was a wondrous atmosphere permeating the walls of your studio, and I can honestly say that your students were amongst the best, but even more than that you transferred a special energy that penetrated each one in the room” – Tao Porchon-Lynch, Yoga Teacher, age 93
“I wanted to give you a tangible example of what yoga has brought to my life. Over the last few years, I had often turned to alcohol as a means of coping. Last night at work one of our patients was dying a very horrible death. I briefly considered stopping on the way home to buy some wine, as I had often done in the past. I decided instead to come home, take a long soothing warm shower, then roll out my mat and practice some yoga. At the end I offered my practice to him, his family, the other nurses and doctors and myself as an act of consolation and healing…. a much better choice-thank you.” – Karen, nurse practitioner
“Every time I go to class, I leave with something that helps me look at life differently. I have gotten stronger and more flexible post surgeries too.” – Aileen G.
“As I have told Anjali, Deborah and some of the other teachers I have encountered since re-starting my yoga practice after a 30 year hiatus, I am so happy and grateful.
yoga has helped to re-connect me with G-d and the universe in a new (old) way. and to reconnect with myself. The last few years of my life have been difficult-problems with children, a divorce, difficult relationships….I was mostly living in the world as a spiritual person in a worldly body-but was a little disconnected from both. Now I feel mostly happy, and the unhappy moments have a fullness, a flavor a beauty that connect them directly to WHAT Is…..not to elude or justify-but to move towards, to accept and then to lovingly let go. I am humbly grateful” – K.K.
It’s hard to imagine the orchestration that must go into scheduling and delivering the variety of events from meditation to yoga, Kirtan chanting, teacher training, dance medicine, special guest workshops, community potlucks, and more – that Baltimore Yoga Village offers at two locations, but somehow the staff pulls it off seamlessly. – Tami B. I have experienced five current teachers from BYV so far (see my recommendations below) and not once had an experience that was below a rating of “excellent”. I don’t mean just competent, passable, skilled, technically proficient, and able to communicate yoga philosophy and inspiration. I don’t just mean able to assess and adapt to the needs of new and disabled students. I mean excellent, outsanding, inspiring, imparting life-changing skills and experiences. You wouldn’t know it from reading my recs here, but I am actually VERY PICKY about teachers and who I even agree to try out. So far BYV has delivered excellence beyond my expectations every time. – Bill D.
