About Us: The Baltimore Yoga Village facilitates the practice of authentic yoga as a way of life, for people in all life conditions. We introduce all aspects of yoga, meditation, kirtan, and healing arts. The Baltimore Yoga Village builds on the strength of each individual to create a supportive and peaceful community - that promotes integrity, mental clarity, happiness, health and spiritual growth.

Our studio welcomes those from infants to elderly, providing a hub for sharing wisdom from all walks of life. From prenatal yoga to yoga for seniors, our studio is a family and wellness oriented space for health and healing, for people in all life conditions. This is why we do not focus on hot yoga. The environment at Baltimore Yoga Village is conducive to all ages, shapes, sizes, and conditions.

We hire Baltimore’s most experienced and well trained instructors. We do not churn out teachers from teacher trainings with a generic approach. We bring yoga asana (posture) teachers who have taken time to study the most well known yoga organizations in the world such as Sivananda Yoga Centers, Phoenix Rising, Kripalu, or those who have studied directly with masters like John Friend, Shiva Rea, and Rod Stryker. Our teachers have taken time to study and know what it is like to be a beginner student. There is a great diversity in teaching styles and languaging, so you are sure to find a perfect match for an asana class.

At Baltimore Yoga Village we embrace the true essence of yoga (union of the individual soul with the universal consciousness) and honor the paths of yoga described in the ancient yoga texts, namely:

Bhakti Yoga - the yoga of devotion

Jnana yoga - the yoga of philosophy

Karma Yoga - the yoga of selfless service

Raja Yoga - the yoga of mental control, which includes meditation, and physical practice of postures in preparation for meditation.

We offer opportunities for karma yoga through our work-exchange programs and fundraisers, jnana yoga through our lectures on philosophy and satsangs, and Bhakti Yoga through our kirtans and devotional singing evenings. We recognize that each person has a special path towards recognizing the Oneness of humanity and oneself with the Supreme, and so we provide as many authentic options for growth as possible.

We also offer bi-monthly yoga retreats for 4-6 people at a time. Visit www.yogainpuertorico.com for full details.
